The Flemish Peace Institute is an independent institution hosted by the Flemish Parliament. The Institute conducts scientific research on peace issues. On the basis of this research, the Institute gives advice to the Flemish Parliament.
The decree on the establishment also determines a documentary task: the Peace Institute collects information sources about peace and makes them available to the general public.
The Peace Institute does not file away its research results, advices and documentation in locked cabinets, but informs as many people as possible on topics related to peace and non-violence.
